I am still alive - just happened to be living somewhere else - the so called ephemeral Twitter-land. Its all fun and dandy but now I have an urge to write in more than 140 characters.
So, let me start, again, by telling you about two wonderful books I have had the pleasure and privilege to read: The Talent Code and Nature's Numbers.
The Talent Code, is a good investigation into the phenomenon of "talent hotbeds". The message is inspiring that, if true, shows how such hotbeds can be grown without special apparatus.
Nature's Numbers is a heart-warming romp through the beauty of Nature seen via the eyes of Mathematics - without a single equation. Only a genius like Ian Stewart, the author and mathematician could pull that feat off of talking about mathematics without actually using any of it.
Highly recommended, both!
http://8help.osu.edu/1253.html is a good article on how to kill a [MacOS]. I had to refer to it in trying to quit [RemoteDesktopConnection] from my new Macbook pro machine to my Windows Machine. The program in general works well, but hung after a few uses.
