So, I asked my Twitter friends:
What would be a good way for a 9 year old to start programming games?
And they replied:
- Try http://scratch.mit.edu says DionStewart
- At 9, BASIC seems appropriate, also what about LOGO. It was less about algorithms and more about cause and effect + drawing says Tim O Brien
- Look at MSFT Kodu http://fuse.microsoft.com/kodu/ says Michael Quick
- I've heard good things about pygame ( http://www.pygame.org/wiki/tutorials ) says Dan Tull
- How about eToys by Alan Kay
- Would Lego Mindstorms be too overwhelming for this age?
for which I say a big thank you. Your suggestions will definitely benefit a soul who fretted in the morning to me that he was having a problem getting started for his 9-year-old son.
