Aarya astounded me ( he is 2yrs,3months) when he retorted

I am not a baby, I am not a big boy, I am not a girl, I am just Aarya!

I could not help marvel at his attempt to define his place in the world. At his age I was a dud by comparison; was I dad?

Aarya has had severe dry skin from birth and Aquaphor has been a god-send in his case. No other ointment has helped as much!

Aarya has reached a stage where, while watching a video, he anticipates a scene/event he likes and when he sees it unfold as expected, rejoices with enthusiasm. I guess he is making sense of the world around him. His favorite videos are of course the classic Baby Einstein videos. His current favorite is Baby Shakespeare

Aarya is rapidly picking up words. Like a fledgeling parrot he is now starting to repeat words (needs a bit of coaxing) . He is beginning to say "bye" and "booba", after the booba toys that he so loves.

...and I would like to assume that stands for "Daddy"! Yeah! Even before "mamma"

He wobbles but pretty much walks around quite well. Interestingly enough he gets up without using his hands. Also noticed that Aarya is very quick in his actions - hopefully that will continue into his adult life.

Another word in his vocabulary : "brush" . Pretty cool I am guessing he will be an early speaker. He also started walking around in the past couple of days - it is now his preferred mode of transportation (just after being carried around - that still has the most preferred status!)

Aarya consistently can identify and say two words : "baa" (for ball, sounds more like bow) and "kack" for (duck)!

If you lay me flat, I have now learned how to turn over to lie on my tummy Unfortunately, I cannot turn back yet . I am not sure why my parents are absolutely delighted by this. I keep doing this over and over now to keep them entertained...

Welcome

Namaste! I was ushered into the world on February 17th, 2006 at 1:47am, in the maternity ward of Fairview Southdale Hospital, MN, USA by my dear mom - Rima Parikh and my dad - Arun Batchu, with the expert help of Dr. Donna Block. I weighed 6lbs,15oz ; was 20 3/4 th inches long. It was a blustery night with double-digit sub-zero (fahrenheit) temperatures. Apparently, the temperature dipped even when my dear elder sister - [Rucha Batchu] was born around this time - she will be four on February 25th, 2006 In Telugu, my dad's native language I would call her "Akka" ; in my mom's native language - Gujarati, I would call her "Didi" (pronounced "thee thee").

After debating on a few names my parents decided to name me Aarya ; in Sanskrit the name means "noble", "learned", "revered" . According to my paternal grandfather, village elders in Telugu are addressed as "Aaryudu" . I will try my best to be one

We came home from the hospital on the 19th and my dad got some time to upload some pictures here. Enjoy! I would love it if you could leave a note or blessing for me. You can use the comment section to do that.

Don't forget my first pictures!

I love

Love,
Aarya.

I am looking forward to playing with you and having lots of fun together when we both grow up! Hope you are allowing your parents at least 3 to 4 hours of sleep each night! If not, take my advise and sleep more during nights - its in our best interest!
