Wood Burn Art

For this art basic drawing skills are essential. The pencil strokes can be easily adopted for wood burn art. For this Electric wood burn pen with different nibs are available. The tip of the pen heats up to nearly 900F so care has to be taken while handling. Thus this art is suitable for elder group children. Experience shows that Chinese brush art can be suitablely used for wood burn creations.

STEPS IN CREATING WOOD BURN

SELECTION OF WOOD SHEETS: though specil quality grain less wood sheets are prefrable,any type of ply wood - light /white coloured can be used. It is better to select more than 1/4 inch thick sheets. Trace a picture or photo on the wood plate using light carbon paper. While tracing fine details need not be traced as they can be presented with fine hand skills latter. If you want to fill the design with colour care has to be taken to complete the lines of design with out any break.
If you want make the wood burn designs bright poly- ureane resins can be applied as fine coating.
