Ready to Eat
Technology at its best: Invented and perfected by the Indian Army at first and now put to use by commercial companies, Micro Curry (a.k.a retort pouches) ready-to-eat products have come along a long way to provide great-tasting, inexpensive and instant but authentic Indian dishes. We carry many brands like Priya, Parampara, Gits
Retort Process
In food processing industry, Retort processing refers to a means of achieving sterilization of food products that eliminate the need for refrigeration. In the case of retort pouches, the pouches are filled with the food product and sterilized to achieve a shelf life for upto 18 months. This particular industry has come a long way to a point where the product is portable and tasteful as well as well-textured. In our taste-experiments, we found these products to be quite tasty. These packages cost lower too because of cheaper manufacturing costs and maintenance costs.
The retort pouches work best with curries with gravies, so most of the packages are such: like the dals, mattar paneer etc. So, check out our Ready to Eat section for more choices. For other packaged foods like Tandoori chicken, and the Masala Dosais etc, our collection of Frozen Foods should serve you well.
