About the recipe
Kaddoo Kofta is a delicious North Indian curry which goes well with chapathis or pooris. It has koftas/balls prepared from kaddoo/doodhi/bottle gourd in an exotic gravy.
The ingredients
Kaddoo/Doodhi/Bottle Gourd (medium size) - 1 lb
Besan - 1 cup
Green chilli paste - 1/2 tsp
Garlic paste - 1 tsp
Ginger paste - 1 tsp
Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Onions (medium) - 4
Cinnamon sticks - 1 inch - 3
Cardamoms - 4
Cloves - 4
Curry powder - 1 tbsp
Coriander leaves (chopped) - 1/2 cup
Tomato puree - 1 cup
Oil for frying koftas
Salt to taste

Koftas:
Wash and peel the skin of the gourd, grate and squeeze to remove water thoroughly. Mix with Besan, Salt, Red chilli powder and make small balls. Deep fry unitl brown on medium heat and keep aside.
Gravy:
Grind the Onions to paste. Heat 4 tbsp of Oil in a pan, add Cloves, Cinnamon, Cardamom and Onion paste. Fry on low heat until the paste turns light brown in color. Add turmeric powder, Green chilli paste, Ginger paste, Garlic paste and fry for 5 minutes. Add Tomato puree, Salt and cook for 10 minutes on medium heat. Finally, add Koftas to the gravy and remove from the heat. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves. Serve with Poori or Chapathi.
