News feedJust discovered a great feature in the iPhone. I use a calling card to make international calls (to India mostly). I have a long toll-free number that I have to dial first and then another 12 digit number to reach the ultimate destination. It could be easier. I had known about the "pause" feature in phones, but have not had the opportunity to use it until now... In the iPhone, I store the number two ways: The actual number say 91 xxx-xxx-xxxx in one slot. The second one, I get a bit sneaky....

...hopefully it works out well! Got a Kindle for my loving bookworm. So far, looks like I earned quite a few brownie points in her eyes - which is a good thing these days; my points were getting dangerously low. Being just 2 degrees away from Shreya, her untimely demise shocked me last year when my friend Chandrahas broke the news. Having two kids, I cannot imagine them incurring a grievous injury, let alone death. Shreya's untimely demise was caused by a freak auto accident attributed to "distracted driving" - a leading cause of death among young folks in Minnesota. Everyday, I see people constantly distracted, including myself....

We were blessed and very lucky to have been entertained by Ustad Zakir Hussain and Pandit Birju Maharaj together - a grand performance put together by Rita Mustaphi of Katha Dance Theater. It was Pandit Birju Maharaj's 70th birthday! Ritaji's home in the Twin Cities is Pandit Birju Maharaj's "home away from home".... |
